My new single, ‘Sounds Like Hope,’ the third single from my EP, Honest, is now available on all major music platforms!

laurenalexhooper: AND ‘SOUNDS LIKE HOPE’ IS OUT!
I wrote this song a while back with one of my favourite people, Richard Marc. I was in the middle of a really bad depressive episode and had been unable to write for months but somehow, we managed to coax this song out of the universe. And it turned out to be a song about hope.
Please, please buy/stream it. It would mean so much to me and all of the people who have worked so hard on it 💜

I’m kind of anxious about this one coming out, if I’m honest. It’s quite different to the previous two songs, both in pace and in mood, so I’m nervous (although cautiously curious) to see what the reaction is. I hope you like it. And, as always, I hope it makes you feel something.

And Clarity has a remix! It wasn’t in the original plan that Richard and I put together but somewhere down the line, the idea for a remix came up. And as it has all along, the plan evolved and between Academic and Richard Marc, the remix of ‘Clarity’ was born.

@laurenalexhooper: And it’s here! The ‘Clarity (Academic Remix)’ is now available everywhere! And I’m also excited to announce that the video will be out in a week, on Friday 17th April! It’s all go here… 🙌🙌🙌 Massive thanks again to @academicofficial and @richardmarcmusic for all of your hard work on this project. You guys are just so awesome!
You can find it here!
Again, the biggest of thanks to Academic (Matt Hughes) and Richard Marc for working so hard on this project, on this new version of my song. I’m so, so grateful for their dedication to it and their dedication to making it sound so seamless and perfect. I know nothing about remixes – I don’t even have any instincts – so I really appreciate them both being willing to work so hard on this little ‘detour’ in the Honest journey. They’re both incredibly hardworking, which is something I so admire about them. This never would’ve (or could’ve) happened without them.

Today I posted a new video, telling the story behind the inspiration, the writing with Imogen Davies, and the production of my current single, ‘Clarity.’ I’ll let you watch the video but again, it does relate to mental health so I wanted to post it here, as well as on my social media. I haven’t explained the experience that gave me the idea because I don’t want to get in the way of the way someone applies the song to their life or interprets the story. It’s a song about something difficult so I feel weird saying, ‘I hope you like it!’ but I hope, when you listen to it, it means something to you. I hope it makes you feel something.
If you haven’t heard the song yet, you can buy or stream it here and the music video will be out soon.

Hi! I’m Lauren Alex Hooper. Welcome to my little blog! I write about living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD (Inattentive Type), and Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), as well as several mental health issues.
I’m a singer-songwriter (it’s my biggest special interest and I have both a BA and MA in songwriting) so I’ll probably write a bit about that too.
My first single, ‘Invisible,’ is on all platforms, with all proceeds going to Young Minds.
My debut EP, Honest, is available on all platforms, with a limited physical run at Resident Music in Brighton.
I’m currently working on an album about my experiences as an autistic woman.
